In one of his letters Freud said: 'I am interested only in the basement of the human being.' Psychosynthesis is interested in the whole building.

Roberto Assagioli

Visualizing Positive Change

Roberto Assagioli (1888-1974), a contemporary of Freud and Jung, is the father of Psychosynthesis, which can be described as a transpersonal and integrative way of working. Psychosynthesis recognises a calling within each of us to be what we may be. It is essentially optimistic.

Psychosynthesis also acknowledges the inter-connectedness of our body, feelings and mind, so as well as talking we will be checking in with how you and your body are feeling now.

Assagioli emphasised the importance of the harnessing the power of imagination to develop the will to initiate change.

For further reading on Psychosynthesis, Kenneth Sorensen is great.
